Kelly Kevin Kelley, Principal, Shook-Kelley

So Where Do We Go From Here?
For most of our careers, the world of business, retail, food, consumers and store design has seemed rather understandable, if not predictable at times. However, with the broad integration of the internet, the increased number of outside players, changing consumer behaviors and the recent Great Recession, the grocery store industry now appears to be operating in a radically different context and climate. What worked for us in the past may not be as effective in the future. And as much as we may hate to confront it, there comes a time in all industries when we must fundamentally reconsider how we go to market and how we create value for consumers. According to Kevin Kelley, that time is now for the grocery industry.

Kevin Kelley is responsible for brand strategy and conceptual design with clients in retail, restaurant, grocery, CPG and leisure destination businesses. For the last 20 years, he has led a team of designers, business strategists and social scientists in an effort to study how retail environments affect behavior and how grocery stores can convene people in more meaningful ways beyond price. As a self proclaimed "anti-architect," Mr. Kelley´s specialty is getting inside the minds of consumers and determining how the physical environment affects a consumer´s choices, comfort level, retention and purchasing behaviors.

During this provocative session, Mr. Kelley will take you on a guided tour of the various ways of going to market, creating value for consumers, convening consumers in physical places and surviving this new world of intense competition.
